Sophie’s Autumn Reading list

Since getting back from the lake district all I have wanted to do is read and get away from the cold weather with a good book and mug of coffee or hot chocolate. Recently I have been re reading the my favourite book series Harry Potter and I’m currently on The Half Blood Prince, I love this book as I do all the harry potter books it has been so lovely to revisit them and enjoy them all over again.

Autum Reading List

Moonlight over Manhattan by Sarah Morgan  ~ Ok, so I’m a sucker for christmas books that are set in New York! People say don’t judge a book by its cover, well you try not to when you see this on the shops bookshelf!

About the book ~ Determined to conquer a lifetime of shyness, Harriet Knight challenges herself to do one thing a day in December that scares her, including celebrating Christmas without her family. But when dog-walker Harriet meets her newest client, exuberant spaniel Madi, she adds an extra challenge to her list – dealing with Madi’s temporary dog-sitter, gruff doctor Ethan Black, and their very unexpected chemistry.

Ethan thought he was used to chaos, until he met Madi – how can one tiny dog cause such mayhem? To Ethan, the solution is simple – he will pay Harriet to share his New York apartment and provide 24-hour care. But there’s nothing simple about how Harriet makes him feel.

Ethan’s kisses make Harriet shine brighter than the stars over moonlit Manhattan. But when his dog-sitting duties are over, and Harriet returns to her own home, will she dare to take the biggest challenge of all – letting Ethan know he has her heart for life, not just for Christmas?

Gizelle’s bucket list by Laura Fern Watt ~   I have a feeling this book is going to be a hard one to read, I love dogs and I have my own dog back home in Nottingham who is getting older. I miss him so much, I think I will read this with a box of tissues!!

About the book ~ when Laura moves to New York she takes her 160-pound English Mastiff, Gizelle with her, They go though everything with each other, so when Laura finds out the Gizelle is sick she designs an epic bucket list to make the most of the time they had left together.

The Art of Beatrix Potter ~ I grow up reading Beatrix Potter’s little book’s and just like her I have fallen in love with the Lake District. Beatrix potter is a women I have looked up to, she was an amazing artist, author and she helped preserve the lake District.

About the book ~ This collection celebrates the artist behind The Tale of Peter Rabbit and numerous other beloved children’s books. Brimming with famous images and rarely seen gems ranging from character sketches and notebook pages to watercolour landscapes and natural history illustrations this monograph explores Potter’s artistic process and reveals the places that inspired her timeless work

Christmas In St Ives by Miranda Dickinson ~ Miranda Dickenson is on of my favourite authors, I love her stories ,they are just a joy to read! This book will be released on the 19th October and will only be available as a e-book.

About the book ~ Heartbroken Cerrie Austin is doing her best to hold it together in the run up to Christmas. Not easy when her cheating ex works in the same school and everyone’s eyes are on her. The last thing she needs is a new teacher meddling in her beloved nativity play, even if he is charming, handsome and a talented musician. The Christmas performance is her pride and joy, and she won’t be undermined.

Seren McArthur has recently returned to her Cornish hometown and is enjoying being close to her family and her oldest friends again. St Ives is at its most magical at Christmas, with fairy lights and tinsel in every shop window, tempting locals and holidaymakers alike as they pick up gifts. But an exciting opportunity is just around the corner: will she stay or will she go?

Meanwhile, the St Ives Christmas celebrations are in crisis: plans for a giant lantern parade through the starlit streets have ground to a halt. As the snow starts to fall, can Cerrie, Seren and their friends Kieran and Aggie rally around in time to save the big day?

This book with be a novella and will introduce us to the characters in her upcoming novel  Somewhere beyond the sea.

I hope you enjoyed this post, what books are on your reading list this Aurum?
